This is a real benefit, you can create any size you need and not only that but you can add to it later also. The thickness is about 7/16, that's just under a half inch. Very nice thickness, you do not have to worry about the tires turning under it, or the mat moving. Yet it is not as thick as some of the 12"x12" tiles out there, to thick can cause all kinds of problems, from fitting under doors and raising the floor to high in doorways and more.
The top pattern is a really nice coin top pattern, looks really nice. Comes in Black and comes in Gray.
It has a grid pattern underneath, this allows air flow and lets the cement breath, some of the garage floor mats out there lay flat on the garage floor. Not great for the cement but those mats are a one piece roll that will hold the liquids on top, unlike the 12"x12" tiles that allow liquids/water to leak through.
Guess what, this new tile is not only versitile like the 12" tiles but also holds the liquid. Yes it will not allow the liquids/water to seep through. This new connection process is water proof, wow!
It must cost a pretty penny huh? Well lets see the rolled goods (G-Floor) is around the 2 dollars square foot range and the tiles (racedeck, and others) are above the 3 dollar range. But you get all the benifits of the more expensive tile and the leak proof of the lesser mat and all at a cost under 2 dollars a square foot - Again, Wow!
We will keep you informed about this product, its not on a website yet, but you can buy it - call Mymatting.com 800-348-4905 or visit the website for contact information. A distributor calls and ask this question, a customer is asking for this what is it? I'm sure Chevron has many different meanings, however in this case its a border on a mat. The Diamond Foot to be specific, this is a great mat. It's like two mats in one, Safety mat and Anti Fatigue mat (Fatigue Relief) all "rolled up" (get it? mat joke!) into one mat.
Great design and a great price too!

It has a foam backing that is very tough as well as comfortable, and It does not absorb liquids. Its covered with a PVC soild (no opeings) top, with a anti slip Diamond pattern molded in. Now, you do get Safety with comfort. As your people work all day the more comfortable you can keep them the safer they will be. But that's not the only safety aspect to this mat - it comes with Safety Borders. Thats right, colored borders that add to the safety of this mat. You choose the color, maybe each department has a color scheme to it, no more stealing mats from other areas. Maybe you have different warnings you want to put out there for different areas, use the different coloring to set these areas off. Back to the "Chevron" word, this is a color or should I say pattern you can choose. The normal color border runs down each side of the length of the mat. The Chevron has a yellow strip at a 45 degree angle then black, then yellow and so on.
Border Colors: Yellow, Green, Chevron, Red, Blue, Orange, Gray - Or just get a solid color mat if you'd like. There are several different versions and it can get confusing.
There is the Waterhog Premier Fashion (some people spell it Water hog), Waterhog Premier, Waterhog Classic & Classic Diamond, and Waterhog Fashion & Fashion Diamond.
The question was "does the Waterhog fasion have the same capacity of holding water as the Waterhog Classic?" Before I answer that question, you need to know that very simply the Fashion has carpet over the black rubber edging that matches the carpet mat color, and the Classic only has the rubber edge.
Look at these two pictures, notice the edging, one has carpet over it and rubber under.

This is the only difference (carpet over the rubber edge), so of course the different Waterhog mats will hold the same amount. The same superior design, with rubber nubs under the carpet, the canals or groves that trap debris, dirt, mud, and water and other liquids away.
Again, lay them on the garage floor, front entrance, back entry, anyplace you want to trap dirt and water and keep your house, office or industrial areas clean.

WaterHog Classic (rubber edging)
-click above image for more info-

Waterhog Fashion (with carpeting)

Thanks to Mymatting.com for pictures

BUY vs. RENTAL - Commercial Entry Door Mats
There are 2 choices with entrance floor mats regardless of commercial, residential or industrial. The construction
of a rental mat, when saturated, allows water to flow off the mat and create a safety hazard. High
Performance mats have a permanent bi-level face to eliminate crushing, create a “door filter”, and
provide years of performance life. Also, the water dam border contains dirt and moisture on the mat.

_________________________________________

PERCEPTION:
Rental mats are always delivered clean and attractive.

FACT:
The age of a rental mat may range from new to 8-10 years old. The quality and appearance may vary considerably from one
service interval to the next. Mats that are in disrepair may cause safety hazards and an inconsistent appearance
negatively affects the facility’s image.

_________________________________________

PERCEPTION:
All rental mats are changed and cleaned regularly.

FACT:
Most outside scraper mats, anti-fatigue mats, and kitchen mats on a rental program are not changed at all. It is left up
to the facility to take care of the mat themselves while still paying a rental charge.

_________________________________________

PERCEPTION:
Rental mats are environmentally friendly.

FACT:
Rental mats require fuel for pickup and delivery, energy for washing and drying, and add chemicals to the waste water. Not only are
High Performance mats constructed of recycled materials, they also perform for 5-10 years.

_________________________________________

PERCEPTION:
Renting mats is economical.

FACT:
Rental mats are very expensive as a long term matting option. At an average of $.20 per
square foot per week a single 3x5 rental mat costs a facility $780 over a five year period. In contrast, a
purchased 3x5 High Performance mat costs the facility approximately $100. (that is a retail price - look at mymatting.com for wholesale pricing, about $55.00)

&

FACT:
There are benefits to owning your own mats.

You’ll experience substantial cost savings and improved safety from better performance and no rental
program costs. From our line of mats, you can choose color coordinated mats that compliment your
interiors and are available in a variety of sizes to best suit commercial traffic patterns - all are performance
engineered for the proper job.

=================Article stop================================

Thanks to Andersen for a great article.
Andersen is the top of the line family owned entrance matting manufacturers in the industry.
All their mats are 100% satisfaction guaranteed.
Mymatting.com thanks for:
great service (family owned for over 30 years)
and
the best pricing (discounted products, highest quality).

Once again a great article, run the figures take a look at your location and needs, think of the environment and then act!

Safety mats

Safety mats do not just mean switch matting. That is Safety mats with a built in switch, when someone steps off the mat the machine shuts down. With that said, that type of safety mat is not the only reason that the word safety is attached to it. Different colors, or safety color stripping down the sides. The color is very nice because workers will pick up on the color difference and find the mat, safer for all. Some other Safety mats would have a non skid or anti slip surface, again it speaks for its self no slipping means safety. However, a lot of mats and matting companies say slip proof or slip resistant, take a logical look at this, what is the design and how or where does the slip resistance come from? Take a look at the picture below, notice the Large Square openings? Square openings means less matting in between the openings also a nice square edge to catch the foot. More opening gives more area for the foot to grab onto and this equals better traction! Not to mention the cross tread design on the bottom and the top of the mat, I like this!
click the picture for more...

Ok, what else makes a "Safety Mat"? How about those large square openings, they serve another purpose. With less mat and more opening whatever falls will fall into an opening or if it does fall on the mat there is only 1/4" of material there so odds are whatever it is will soon fall into the openings. Now you are walking on the mat not on all the debris or liquids, and this has to be safer! Not to mention the neat little piles of square dirt that is left on the floor when you roll the mat up, not stuck up in the mat. The large square safety openings also help with clean up, the mat rolls easier because of them and the debris are not caught up in the mat.

hope this helps you stay safer! -click the mat for more information-

Oh and it's all made, well... Hand Made in the USA, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Nice to have a local product to support

Downdraft table mat

I have been doing Google searches for a downdraft table mat and not find much of anything, there is really not much out there.
How can you lay a mat on a downdraft table? Most mats out there are solid and the ones that have openings, do not have very large openings and you can loose air flow. So, yes I can see that a search for downdraft mat would not bring much. Still there remains a problem, downdraft tables have a metal grate that allows air flow and holds your product. Metal is the key word here, metal can scratch or damage your products. I've seen some hard plastic grates that are used, and this is a bit better, but hard plastic can still scratch and damage.
How about a soft flexible plastic mat that will set on top of the grate? A downdraft table mat that allows air flow like the metal and plastic grates do. There is a mat mat just for downdraft tables, this mat is a grate pattern that has square openings that allow air flow, about 7/8"x7/8" square openings. This mat is Hand Made in the USA, and can be made down to the inch. So you can order a stock width in inches and choose your custom length in inches and you can choose any of 9 colors. If you would like a bit more custom you can order any width and any length and any color cominations (why not dress it up a bit, why have your work area drab and boring? You don't want employees being bored and doing drab work, I know I wouldn't want that).

What a find, a flexible downdraft table mat to protect your items and your table! It's reversable (two mats in one), and made of a non absorbent material. Firm enough to support yet soft enough to protect - check it out here www.mymatting.com.

downdraft table with blue mat on it

this shows the flexibility and and a couple of black color strips in a yellow mat, look at the large openings.

On the web and in Fort Wayne, Indiana

A new factory outlet located in Ft. Andersen has a Waterhog mat and a Waterhog logo mat called Classic Impressions Logo mat. This entrance mat and logo mat has a pattern to them, deep grooves that channel water and dirt away. The carpet or pattern is actually built up with with a rubber base then the carpet is pressed down onto the rubber, this is how you get the patterns and deep grooves. The carpet can never break down because they are pressed onto the rubber, you will always have the deep channels. Now I'm not saying that regular carpet entrance mats like the TriGrip are not good, they do have a place and are very good. But this quick note covers how great the Waterhog is, and the fact that you can get them with a logo on them too.
Checkout this video that covers sand and water poured on a Waterhog mat and a regular carpet entrance mat, it shows when people or traffic walks through the sand and water what happens to your home, office or whatever room needs protection. Great video very informative.

Thanks Andersen - Mymatting.com

Puzzle Connection Humane animal stall mats

Just for information sake: Humane offers the puzzle type connections on all all of their animal (horse, pig, cow, dog, etc...) mat and stall mats (even their industrial and exercise mats). This puzzle connection is a great way to keep the mats together. As an example the stall matting when laid and installed correctly can move with horse or animal movement. Not only is the a pain to keep track of but can be dangerous. With that said, Humane does offer the matting with three different sides to them. One is a right out of the mold (don't forget Humane has one of the best molding processes for a superior product), this is a straight edge or flat side. The Second option is what is called a True Edge, this edge is a precise or very straight water jet cut. This straight edge fits up next to other True Edge mats perfectly. And of course the Third are the Puzzle Connections.
[click picture for more information]

G-Floor - overlap, install

Okay, a quick note on what to do with two mats that meet up with each other.
[picture from Mymatting.com]

Overlapping is a great way to deal with matting that meets up, some people add a little two-sided tape (not really needed, but a nice extra if wanted). If for some reason your mats do not match up you will have to cut, simply do an over lap then using a straight edge cut down through both mats. After cutting down the length go back and pull out the cut off pieces and lay the mats back down and they should match up right on your cut lines. Most people I talk to are not that fancy and just lay the mats overlapping and leave it at that. Some do not even have the mats that close to each other and the do not have to worry about any of this. Happy garage floor laying / installing.

G-Floor - water proof, waterproof mat

I was talking with someone today who had a garage with almost no slope and needed to lay something down to keep the liquids and debris off his already bad concrete garage floor. The road salt is really hurting and breaking down the cement, and hes trying to keep the liquids from leaking through down to a storage garage below, something waterproof or water tight. The Garage Floor Mat G-Floor is about the only garage floor mat that can really say it holds the water back, and being made of tough vinyl it will stand up to all the salt, dirt/mud and other nasty stuff. We talked about washing the mat, and since he dose not have a slope, I recommended the standard thickness. This is a bit lighter weight and will be that much easier for him to drag out of the garage in the spring and wash it off with mild soap and water. I recommend the ribbed top because he will lay two mats together and over lap them or lay them up next to each other. The ribbed top will channel the water / liquids and keep them from traveling sideways to where the mats meet up. You can use 2x4's on the edges, under the matting in order to channel the water or liquids back to the center of the mat where it will evaporate and or dry up.
[complements of Mymatting.com]

This garage floor mat G-Floor comes with different top patterns - Diamond, Coin, Levant (leather look), and Ribbed. I've seen and heard of people using this in commercial and industrial uses, covering room floors and storage areas or even showrooms. Some home owners use it on patios, basements, work rooms and excersie rooms.
This is a one piece roll of vinyl, simply unroll trim and you've got a new floor. It has different tops and colors too. Being one piece means no liquids or debris will find there way through the mat. I've seen woman dragging a roll of it out onto the drive way for cleaning. Now, you don't have to go to that extreme but hey if you want a slopped serface for all the soap and water to drain away then its great to have that option. It really stays in place too, it seems to be just thick enough that it lays flat and stays there. Hope this video gives you an idea of what this garage floor mat looks like and how it installs.

Found this mat at Mymatting.com, friendly and easy on the wallet.

TriGrip Entrance Carpet Mats

This mat is one of the best Entrance Mats, used in the home or office even tough enough for industrial use, the best pricing by far is at MyMatting.com, and great service too. Being outside and black you have to consider that at least part of the day the sun will shine on these mats, being black they will heat up fast and hold the heat longer. Morning or even late afternoon sun may be fine, but this does bring up the fact that black rubber mats could be to hot for the animal if in the direct sun. I would rather not sell a mat and have an animal safe. Take a careful look at your layout and see how much sun (whether indoors or outdoors) hits the area where you are considering putting mats, make sure you note different days and different amounts of sun,and don't forget to account for different seasons too. Please think of this no matter what you are considering putting down; matting, cement, black top, etc...

Some other things to think about is what you put the mats on, a firmer surface or subsurface in this case is better.Cement is idea, if not cement then consider digging down and adding very fine packing stone, maybe lime stone. Get it a bit wet and make sure you pack it tightly, then lay mats on top. You will have drainage as well as a firm subsurface.

The thinner mats cost less, but depending on the size of the animal, they could be able to feel the stone or irregular subsurface. You can get a thicker mat and would not have to worry about this problem.

Please keep these things in mind when picking a surface for your dog runs - most importantly, and simply, just keep the animals best interest and comfort in mind and you'll do great!

With all that said, on of the best mats around for animals is the Humane products. They offer warranties, quality, comfort and years and years of manufacturing, different thickness and for all animals and uses, They are top of the line and prepare to pay a higher price, after all you do get what you pay for with animal mats. There are cheaper, but that is exactly what you'll get - cheap! Mymatting.com is a matting manufacturer too and they seem to have really low markups and off mats and coverings, and animal mats (Humane) at amazing pricing, nice service too, check it out.

PROTECT YOUR CEMENT / CONCRETE IN YOUR GARAGE.

Garage floor mat installations require ONLY an hour or two, they do not have toxic chemicals and have no drying time like paint and epoxies. Who needs floor coverings? Unfortunately liquids and debris will begin to eat away at your floor. Concrete seems tough but it is really an absorbent porous material made up of water, sand and stone and will not last. Cover and protect it with products made from vinyl and PVC. There are a lot of choices of garage floor coverings, but however you decide to cover your garage flooring just make sure you do something to cover it before you find the value of your property eroding away while you sleep. Concrete does not last forever The Garage Mat also keeps your garage and home safe by preventing slips and falls. To sum up garage floor tiles, garage floor mat, garage matting, garage floor covers; These can look especially great and are easy to install, cost effective (especially compared to epoxy paints and coverings), and preventing slips and falls. They also provide a guard-all shield over a garage floor, attractive, comfortable to walk on, impervious to common liquids such as antifreeze and oil drippings. They serve as an effective vapor barrier and noise absorber, garage floor mat installs without adhesives, and can be moved outside for heavy cleaning or transferred to a new location. Shop around find the best price but do not forget about great service too, one place I’ve found is Mymatting.com.

WHAT KIND OF MATS ARE THERE FOR MY GARAGE?

As far as a garage floor cover is concerned, homeowners have several options. Covers are usually associated with the name garage floor mat. Mats can be one roll of flooring that will roll out and cover the whole floor. Mats can also be smaller and provide comfort or extra cleaning of shoes and boots. Other options for a cover would be garage floor tiles. Garage floor tiles can look especially great because you can have fun with design. Tiles can be laid out in different patterns, using colors or different top surfaces. You can add borders, walk areas, parking areas, drainage with open tiles. Tiles create an open air space between your garage floor and the mat, this will allow the concrete to breath. Garage Tiles cover all manner of sins such as uneven, damaged, cracked, or stained concrete. You’re favorite team colors can be incorporated in also, now the man cave is working its mojo. Garage floor mats or sometimes called G-Floor matting are one mat that covers the entire or large area of the garage floor. This very tough vinyl comes in a roll, simply roll it out and you have great protection and beauty also. Having one solid mat guards against liquid from working its way down to the cement. These mats can be cleaned easily by drug out of the garage or leave it right there and clean it.
A good number of consumers wisely choose floor mats, covers and tiles simply because it is the easiest to install. But you get so much more – Easy to install and to design, after that you are done, unlike floor paints and epoxies, which require strict preparation and long drying time, toxic chemicals. Paints and epoxies can also be a long term care problem, a lot of garage owners will add mats, tiles or covers to protect their new painted floor, why not just start with the garage floor mat. Compared to floor paints and epoxy, garage mats, tiles, pans and covers are the much cheaper and easier option. Mats, tiles, coverings and covers that are available are extremely tough and protective and have been tested and treated to repel any kind of corrosive liquid that may spill onto your garage flooring. Easy, quick and you get a ready to use beautiful garage right away, instant gratification! Now that the floor is down and you’ve covered and protected the concrete, its time to add some mats. Smaller mats can give fatigue relief in front of work-benches, even on the benches to protect the table top as well as what you are working on (they can help your project from slipping while you work). Smaller mats can add in scraping dirt and grime off your shoes or boots and keep the rest of the house clean, they can create walk ways or keep cabinets or other items up off the floor. Don’t forget to add some mats for that finishing touch.

NO TO EPOXY OR PAINT

Look for garage floor mat coverings, do not go with the paint or epoxy options, they do not allow concrete to breath and need lots of care and need to be redone now and then, and they are very hard to install (vapors, chemicals) compared to garage floor mat covings.
All the choices for garage floor mats, matting or covers are great. All made from PVC or Vinyl, all look great and serve the purpose of adding great looks as well as protection. We all have our own preferences; some like the black and white checker board look (racing look) and that is what is important the them. Tile mats will work fine and do a good job for you. Some insist on “no” liquids on the cement floor! No problem, the Roll mat will work great for them. You can see that they are all good products and they are all made with quality and superior material and they will probably last longer than the concrete or garage. This is an investment in your garage and will really not cost as much as you think, try calculating the cost of the mat over the life of your garage and see what you get. Don’t forget the traditional Garage Floor Mat these can be laid on top of your “subfloor” mats, tiles, rolls. A great way to get fatigue relief, comfort, extra footing, cleaner feet with better scraping. These would be obviously smaller mats and would lay in strategic areas, such as right in front of the door before you enter the house, right outside your car door (don’t drag debris and liquids in your car). You can even use some of the mats (Airomat) on top of the table, on shelving, in draws or box/containers.

HOW TO CHOOSE A GARAGE FLOOR MAT

How do you choose a garage floor mat, tile or roll - although one of the main things you want to accomplish is protecting your concrete, the other would be to make the best looking garage possible. Sometimes you cannot get both so you sacrifice one thing to get the other. There are several options - tiles, rolls and mats. Tiles and Rolls act as a “so called” sub-floor. Tiles will allow liquid and air to flow in between the tiles at the connections, no matter how tight the fit (Most tiles will have a loose fit - this makes it better for riding over uneven or damaged floor, this is a good thing). They also sit up on feet, this creates a nice airspace between the concrete and the tiles, liquid flows and air is good for the concrete, but yes liquids do get in there. Most garages are made with a drain or angled to the front for drainage, so this should be ok for the floor. Now, Rolls are vinyl and lay right on the concrete and do not connect like tiles, so they don’t let liquids flow under it, this is great although it lays on the concrete and some say concrete needs to breath. With tiles you can create any size floor and with roll mats, they come in sizes made just for your area, this is nice because you simply unroll this vinyl covering and you have protected the concrete with a one piece mat, no seems or connection points. Beautiful and easy to clean, and yet made from a tough vinyl. You can get the same kind of roll mat look in a product that comes in about 2’x2’ tiles that have puzzle type connection around it. These look the same as some of the roll mats but connect to create whatever size floor you need. There is one other Tile to consider, this one has just the right size openings in it. Yes liquids and debris will go down and through, and also flow to the drain or out the front of the garage (as garages are slopped for that reason). Think about it, the concrete gets to breath, right? And, you get something the others do not give you. With the openings doing all that work, you do not track all that liquid and debris into the house, your garage will look cleaner too. These tiles are really neat because they come with built in expansion joints. All are great options, if you over analyze anything you can find problems, nothing in life is perfect.

WHERE TO FIND GARAGE FLOOR MATS AND MATTING?

Are You Using the Best Garage Floor Covers, and getting them at your price?
